poem: self-portrait in the dark
For the past year most days I read something by poet, David Bailey. His book Journework published by Mount Vision Press is a real gift in presence and exploration.
And I don’t know about you but for me in December more than most most months I need the gift of things that slow me down, let me sit in the dark, and to remember. His work does just that.
A few more gifts will be headed your way as we get ready to welcome the light back. In the meantime take a minute in the dark time and read a poem.
Enjoy.
Self-Portraits in the Dark
by David Bailey
Until the mystery opens its eyes in me
I’m a candle burning out in an empty city,
a wave treading water, a scarecrow defending
a field of sky.
And all these wild lifetimes are
self-portraits drawn in the dark.

Also, come January 12, we start back up again with Being and Breathing. I’ll remind you as we get closer but I’d love to sit with some of you there!.
Lastly, starting in February, classes both live and asynchronous will be available for you to join me in the studio! Can’t wait to share what I have been brewing and I know that many of you have reached out to see when classes in the school of wonder, mystery, and imagination begins...and the answer is soon! Stay tuned!
